This is what can happen when I see
a photo of Adele penguins jumping from one berg to another. Even more
amazing was that one was wearing a tutu...must have washed ashore.

This
is the first sketch from the thumbnail. I didn't deviate much from
what was in this sketch.
The
line drawing for transfer to the final surface. The tutu became
more of a skirt...I thought it showed more movement than that stiff
tutu ruff. I added a couple of froufrou details, but it's still
the sketch.
When
I have a booth at a show, I like to be doing something when I'm just
sitting around. It's what I should always be doing. A color
sketch is so beneficial. The following steps are much better and a
whole lot easier.
Since I don't want to deal with water at a booth, this is colored
pencil on pastel paper (Notice the 'Return of the Tutu'...as I started
doing the skirt, it looked like a tutu might be okay...and it probably
is, but I went back to a skirt...it still is better for movement).
The
watercolor dye stage, same as always.
Colored
pencil step...almost done.
Acrylic
paint added to strengthen contrasts and finish things up.
