REALLY ROASTED... |
 |
This
thumbnail sketch was about three quarters of an inch high in my sketchbook. |
The
first real sketch had the bear, in a chef's hat, BBQing a fish.
I didn't like the hat...if large enough to be real, it hid too much
of the bear, but when it was smaller, it didn't look right.

I
swapped the fish for roasting ears for two reasons. First, the roasting
ears had the "R", which I intended to use as the caption,
and secondly, I didn't want to offend anyone radically opposed to
eating meat and fish. In the end, the early working caption Roasted
Roasting Ears was truncated to Really Roasted.
|
I
sometimes take my show on the road to arts & crafts shows, and,
when I do, I sit around working on a letter or two. Because I don't
like to deal with water, I do it all in colored pencil on pastel
paper. This, of course, became Really Roasted.
