The thumbnail idea remained throughout
the process pretty much as conceived. The biggest change was eliminating
the inline skates and adding the rain gear. Click on any illustration for an enlargement. |
| The first full size sketch. At the edge of the image, you can see an early caption idea jotted down-- "Just singin' in the rain". I thought it had too many non-J words. Too bad. |

The final drawing. Not much difference, other than the position of the right foot. |
| Water-based
dyes to cover the white of the paper. I probably covered too much
with color on this one as I had to add a lot of white during the acrylics
stage. |

| The colored pencil stage...there are a lot of layers on this illustration... more than usual. | |
| During this final stage of painting with acrylics, I added the whites and yellow-whites to punch up the highlights. Done. |  |
