Sketchbook
drawing using the full-sized letter outline.
I wanted the main character to be a ferret, mainly because of the
obvious tie-in with the letter, but also for the supple body profile
that could help fill out the letter shape.
The final drawing, basically the same as all that's come before. Other
than changing the position of the tail, it's the same as the sketch.
Here
the application of water-based
dyes serves as the underpainting for the colored pencils...the same
as every single letter I've ever done in color on white paper.
The
colored pencil stage where most of the work is done.
This
letter got altered during the acrylic work. The biggest and most
obvious change was to the color of the bag. It really got lost in
the background when it was green. By changing the body of the bag
to red, it was still tied to the colors of the sweater, but became
much more prominent in the illustration. .
