| The "Quarterdeck, Ahoy!" design was conceived as an O, and going to the right...the opposite direction. Then came the dolphin, the boat turned around and the whole thing became a Q. Compare the thumbnail with the final version (you'll need to use your browser's BACK button to return). | ||

Before
I began working on the first alphabet, I thought I'd do my own initial...just
for me, never intending it to be part of a name. This is a color
sketch of a possibility (done in colored pencil on pastel paper).
I tried to fit it into the M shape I use now, but I just couldn't
seem to get it... kind of like trying to cram one of the ugly stepsister's
toe into the glass slipper!
Even so, I'm very happy to say it wasn't a total waste of time because it was while I was struggling with this that I came up with the idea for My Mane Man. |
