The thumbnails I do are really just memory joggers for when I need an idea. I didn't do a thumbnail sketch specifically for this letter because this E, done years earlier, inspired Butter Nut. When I came across it, the idea for Butter Nut came right away, caption and all. Can't explain how one thing can inspire another, but there you go.

Since the idea was very clearly visualized from the thumbnail, I jumped right to full size.
